Hands & Voices Training
In 2002 Accessible Arts pioneered the first specially designed
training programme for learning disabled singers and signers,
providing opportunities for trainees to make a positive contribution
to their community, whilst at the same time promoting an extremely
positive model of disability.
So far the programme has trained six members of Hands &
Voices Choir to lead workshops in schools and colleges up
and down the country, from the Royal Academy of Music to The
Dales School, in Northallerton. Due to the overwhelming success
of this training, the National Foundation has now adopted
the model for Youth Music (through links with ‘tune-in’
and ‘Music Leader Yorkshire’), as well as Cube
Media’s own SoundWeaver and Applefields School programmes.
